A Few Teacher Web Resources

August 25, 2004    Darien School District #61

Tips for using the Internet with students

• PLAN AHEAD and ALWAYS CHECK YOUR SITES FIRST!
You'd be surprised how often urls change.  A site you used last year may have moved locations or no longer exist.

•Have an alternative plan. Technology is full of surprises!

•Check out the grade level sites pages on the District Web page.  These sites were tested and recommended by our own District 61 Teachers http://www.darien61.org/technology

Kid's Searching Tools
As an adult we use many different search engines (Yahoo, AltaVista, etc.) Why not teach your kids these options. The Kids Search Tools Page is a one stop shop for all kid friendly search engines. Go to
www.rcls.org/ksearch.htm. Try searching for topics here as a central research site.
